How to Play
Three types of officers exist in the game. They are Melee, Corsair, and Ranged.
|Melee||Melee officers deal only physical damage, which can be improved by learning specialties. They have high dodge ratings. They are stronger than Ranged but weaker than Corsairs.|
|Corsair||Corsair officers normally deal physical damage. They can also deal special damage, which can be improved by learning specialties. They have high block ratings. They are stronger than Melee but weaker than Ranged.|
|Ranged||Ranged normally deal strategic damage. They can also perform special damage, which can be improved by learning specialties. They have high crit ratings. They are stronger than Corsairs but weaker than Melee.|
Each officer has three attributes: strength, agility, and intellect. Strength impacts physical ATK and physical DEF, agility impacts on special ATK and special DEF, and intellect impacts strategic ATK and strategic DEF.
Officers are ranked into three categories according to their stats: white, green, and blue. Higher-ranked officers have stronger base stats.

There are several ways to recruit officers:
a. As you venture further in the game, many strong officers become available. Some will have to be earned through the Gamble feature of the Tavern.
b. You can get more officers by increasing your infamy. You may need to gamble for them in the Tavern.
c. You can find Redbeard through treasure hunts.
d. You can find Blackbeard by completing enough milestones on the Treasure Map.
e. You can find Kraken by collecting a certain number of fragments in Team Mode of Trepid Sea and Eye of the Storm.
f.You can get Ruffins by collecting research fragments. Send your officers exploring for a chance to loot research fragments. Once you collect enough research fragments, Ruffins will fight for you.
Many pirates have invoked the wrath of Davy Jones and have fallen under his curse. Unless some brave soul can beat Davy Jones in the Pirate’s Gamble, the cursed pirates cannot leave the Tavern. Many famous pirates, including the renowned One-Eye, are drinking away their sorrow in the Tavern as they await the day they are freed.
Due to David Jones’s curse, many pirates cannot join your crew. You need to gamble for them in the Tavern first.
To participate in the gamble, you must first bid some resources. Each gamble gives you different odds. If you win, the officer will join your crew. If not, the officer’s spirit of resistance rises, making it easier to recruit him/her in the future.
Corsair and Ranged officers have special attacks even when they are new. After they learn a specialty on Specialty Island, their special attacks will receive a boost. When Melee officers learn a specialty, their physical attacks will receive a boost. Specialties can turn the tide of a battle. Each officer has his or her unique specialty. You can find an officer’s specialties under his/her info page.
Specialties can be learned and upgraded on Specialty Island. Specialties have multiple levels and can be upgraded in different sections of Open Waters.
|Level||Open Waters Section||Ocean Tear|
|Lv1||Sunrise Bay||Green Ocean Tear|
|Lv2||Swordfish Strait||Blue Ocean Tear|
|Lv3||Foggy Strait||Purple Ocean Tear|
|Lv4||Trepid Seas||Yellow Ocean Tear|
|Lv5||Eye of the Storm||Orange Ocean Tear|
Once you collect enough Ocean Tears, you can use them to upgrade your specialty. This has a low success rate. However, you can use runestones to increase your success rate. The first runestone will boost your success rate by quite a bit, but each following runestone has a weaker boost than the one before. The success rate cap is 70%. You can collect runestones after defeating other players on Open Waters.
